DONGHA, a well-known driveshaft manufacturer in South Korea, previously purchased a high-end metrology system from a major European brand for laboratory inspection. As the company expanded production and sought to implement full on-line inspection on the shop floor, they conducted multiple rounds of testing and technical validation. After thorough comparison, DONGHA selected USDV’s TIMI automated rotational imaging metrology system.

Challenges

Before adopting the TIMI system, DONGHA faced the following issues:

  • Laboratory-type systems could not be deployed on the shop floor for full on-line inspection:The existing system was built for lab use and lacks the durability needed for near-line inspection under oil mist, vibration, and production floor conditions.
  • Long maintenance cycles from international suppliers:Repairing European brand equipment often took weeks or even months, disrupting production and driving up costs due to delayed support.
  • Difficulty integrating measurement data into digital systems:Existing platforms lack native support for Industry 4.0 workflows—such as automated loading, robotic integration, measurement databasing, and ERP/MES connectivity.

Solution

After multiple rounds of TIMI trial measurement, cross-validation, and performance comparison, DONGHA officially purchased the TIMI6090P system, deploying it directly on the shop floor for full driveshaft inspection.
